Dead Pixel Test
Identify dead, stuck, warm, and hot pixels on any LCD, OLED, or LED screen.
What are pixels?
Pixels are tiny microscopic dots that form every digital image. Each pixel consists of three sub-pixels: Red, Green, and Blue. When millions work together, they create the vibrant display you see.
Types of Pixel Issues & Solutions
1. Dead Pixel
Appearance: Permanent black spot. All RGB sub-pixels are turned off/damaged — receives no power.
Causes: Manufacturing defects, physical damage, or aging.
Fix: Cannot be fixed — requires screen replacement.
2. White / Hot Pixel
Appearance: Bright white dot that stays lit. Similar to dead pixel but appears white.
Causes: Uneven liquid crystal distribution, short-circuit, stuck transistor.
Fix: Rarely fixable — professional repair recommended.
3. Warm / Hot Pixel
Appearance: White/yellowish glowing spot, often changes with screen content.
Causes: Current transmission failure, transistors stuck partially open.
Fix: Often fixable — pressure method or rapid color cycling can help.
4. Stuck Pixel
Appearance: Single persistent color (red, green, or blue) — not black or white.
Causes: Transistor stuck in 'on' position, electrical glitch.
Fix: High success rate — rapid color cycling (use our diagnostic tool) often fixes stuck pixels.
5. Dust Particles
Appearance: Looks like dark or stuck pixels but actually tiny dust specks.
Causes: Environmental dust, lint settling on screen surface.
Fix: Clean with microfiber cloth — gentle circular motions.
How to use this tool
1. Click individual color buttons (White, Black, Red, Green, Blue) to enter fullscreen mode. Inspect carefully for unusual dots.
2. Use "Run Full Diagnostic Cycle" — automatically cycles through White → Red → Green → Blue → Black every 3 seconds.
3. If you notice a stuck pixel, run the rapid color cycle multiple times to try and revive it.
4. For warm/dead pixels, combine pressure method with our tests.
Important Notes
✓ Dead pixels are permanent — don't waste time trying software fixes.
✓ Stuck pixels often respond to rapid color flashing (our cycle helps).
✓ Always clean screen before diagnosing — dust mimics pixel defects.
✓ Use this tool on any device: monitor, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
